IV European-Russian scientific practical conference

In line with the events program of the business mission for the development of the Russian-European cooperation in the area of the environmental protection and resource saving technologies "EURORUSS: PARTNERSHIP, EXPERIENCE, INNOVATIONS" several events in the area of environmental protection, waste management and urban development are planned in the year 2011. The events will be organized by the European-Russian center for innovations, ecology and economic development "EuroRuss" e.V. and supported by the State-Duma Committee for natural resources, environment and ecology, the State-Duma Committee for property rights, the Federal Center for households and wastes of the Federal Ministry for the Regional Development and the Trade-Economic Bureau of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Germany.

Unprecedentedly international profile

After best ever figures for exhibitor numbers and exhibition space, IFAT ENTSORGA set a new record with approximately 125,000 visitors (IFAT ENTSORGA 2010: 109,589 visitors). Dr Johannes F. Kirchhoff, Chairman of the IFAT ENTSORGA Advisory Board and Managing Partner of FAUN Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG said: “IFAT ENTSORGA 2012 is remarkable for its large visitor numbers - significantly more guests than at the previous trade fair in 2010. The international customer profile also experienced outstanding growth.”

Of the 125,000 visitors, approximately 75,000 were domestic with a good 50,000 from abroad. In addition to Germany, the top ten visitor countries were – in this order – Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Poland and Spain. Georg Huber, Chief Executive Officer of HUBER SE, confirmed that “IFAT ENTSORGA is the most important trade fair in the world. The trade fair turned in yet another impressive performance in 2012 in terms of its diverse international profile and very good visitor numbers.”

«Gigaton award» for Germany

On the 15th December 2011 Germany war honored with the «Gigaton award» during the climate summit in Durban for the consequent development of the renewable energy. The energy production using the renewable sources grew from 6 per cent of the energy mix in 2000 up to over 20 per cent in 2011, which was the crucial issue by making a decision about the prize. The German environmental policy was honored in such a way. The Germany became the «Country-Leadership-Award» from the hands of the Nobel Prize winner Rajendra Pachauri, the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The federal environment minister Röttgen was very glad about the Prize and underlined that the development of the renewables and energy efficiency are the key issues for the climate protection.

The Sweden company „Presona“ (the member of the EuroRuss e.V.) has launched the new sorting plant for mixed municipal wastes in Yekaterinburg, Russia

Already this winter the new technical equipment of the Sweden Company Presona (the member of the EuroRuss e.V.) will be delivered and put in operation to the waste sorting plant in Yekaterinburg in Russia. The wastes will be sorted with the help of the equipment in to 6 categories – foils, glass, paper, soft rubber, plastics and metals and then finally recycled. It is planned to process 100 thousand tons of wastes at the plant in Yekaterinburg annually. 120 working places will be provided to serve the new plant. The new machinery cost for the complex in Yekaterinburg 250 millions of rubles or 6.5 millions of euro.

Break-Through in Durban?!

The international climate summit in Durban ended on the 11th December 2011. It has lasted 14 days and was so the longest climate summit in the history. The most politicians are satisfied with the arrived compromises at the climate summit in the South-African Durban; the environmental activists, on the contrary, are disappointed. Due to the pressure from the USA and India the Plan to work out the new world climate convention till 2015 has failed. At the last day of the climate summit the 190 countries have arranged the following pact:

1) The Kyoto Protocol which expires at the end of 2012 and which was signed by the industrial countries except for the USA should be extended. It should be extended at the next climate summit in the next year but it is not clear jet for which period. According to the Protocol the member countries should reduce their emissions by the definite percentage rate annually. The strategy remains active.

2)The USA is willing to join the new climate Convention which follows the Kyoto Protocol. The USA will accept binding manageable goals for reducing of the greenhouse gases from 2015.

3)The new climate convention which follows the Kyoto Protocol must be adopted not later than 2015 according to the arrangement in Durban and come in to force not later than 2020.
